You subscribers who've been around awhile might remember last year this time (yesterday, to be exact) when I wrote about my family's big house fire, which resulted in several pet deaths, 3 months of "displacement" (strange feeling to have the kindly Red Cross volunteers call you "displaced persons") and a half-burned-down house.

This was a big (and rather unpleasant) 'anniversary' for our family (made even more exciting when the moth burned up in the lamp last night, filling the house with unidentifiable smoke) and one that reminded us again not only of our luck at being alive but also our own fallibility.

So, let me take this moment to jump on my soapbox (I swear I won't do it again for at least another year!) and ask you all to please, please check your smoke detectors, keep at least one fire extinguisher in the house (we didn't) and (very important) make sure you have up-to-date insurance. It's so easy (I know) to think it can't happen to you but we're living proof that it can.

Okay, I'm done now ;)

Now hopping off the soap box and on to business...

I finally got my new internet venture started and I'd love to turn it into a paying market for porn/erotica writers. So please take a look at it and give me your feedback on site design, concept, etc. I'd like to hear what you think of it, both the good and the bad...

--- Effective Dirty Talk In Porn Writing ---

Okay, class, how many of you have read a nice little naughty story and just had to put it down because the talking parts during sex were just…unbelievable?

A lot of stories go something like this:

She lay back on the bed and I pulled my pants down. “My God, that’s a huge cock,” she said, and it jumped to attention for her. “You need to park that thing right in my pussy, you stallion!”

When I shoved it in her, she went apeshit. “My God, that big cock of yours is so awesome! It’s rearranging my internal organs! Shit, I’m coming, you’re making me come!”

And so on, for several pages. What makes this kind of dialogue so uninteresting? It’s just not realistic, for a number of reasons. Here are some quick tips for making your dirty talk dirty (and real):

1. Most people will say little during sex—the only vocalizations they tend to make are oohs, ahs, and grunts. Start there.

2. The next time someone opens their mouth during sex is to give directions: “Your tongue feels great there.” Or, “Deeper, harder!” It’s a common human instinct. And it’s the only time that guys don’t mind getting ordered around.

3. After that, it’s time for compliments: “Your body is so beautiful.” “Your cock is so fat.” “You make me feel so good.”

4. And then, in the heat of passion, things get interesting: “Faster, faster, yes! Yes!” This is where we go back to basic grunts, but faster, louder, and things start running together. Remember when you write these parts that there’s rarely logic and grammar behind their construction. The rule to follow is one of breath—can he or she say all that while gasping for air?

“Yes, yes! Faster, harder, right there, yes, right theeeeere…..eeeeeeeeeeeeh, I’m coming, come with me you big stud, oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! Cock! Big cock! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.”

5. When all else fails, try honesty and unusual phrasings. I read a story once on literotica.com in which the secretary seduces her boss. When she got a look at the size of his appendage, she leaned up against a dresser, hiked her ass up, and said, “Build me a bigger pussy!” I’ve never forgotten it.

If you really want to learn the fine art of dirty talk, then I suggest you watch some amateur porn movies. Don’t pick anything that is scripted, just amateurs bonking each other with abandon. Some of the most interesting behavior can be found on sites like blacksonblondes.com. The site caters to an elementary sexual fantasy (well-endowed black men plundering little white women) and some of the things the women say before, during, and after coitus are amazing.

HOOT ISLAND'S "FLASH US" CONTEST:

So far this year we've seen our EroticHa Archives explode with lots of new absurd smut, and yet it's still not enough for me. I want more, more, I'm still not satisfied!

But I've got a short attention span, and if I get half the response I expect to I won't have time to read them all unless I give up personal time-wasters like eating or whacking it, and you can imagine how likely that is.

So here's the deal. I want flash stories: erotic stories of 100 words or less. The only restrictions are these:

RULES:
Gotta be 100 words long. Exactly. Not counting the title. Gotta be about masturbation. We're still in Masturbation Month, after all. No subject matter that doesn't fit in our general submission guidelines. Gotta be funny. Duh. Gotta be submitted per instructions below. Gotta be in by Friday June 14th, so I can announce the winners by the June 19th update. And that's it. Easy, right?

We'll see. It's tougher than you think to write a good story in 100 words. Some tips: avoid jokes. I've probably heard them. Read some flash fiction to see what it's like - try Amoret , or go to Erotica Reader Association's Quickie page and click on "Flashers". Consider using true stories, they're usually funnier.

GIRL PLAY:

I am editing a literary collection on women's sexuality. I'm looking for personal essays, recollections, and some fictional stories that examine girls masturbating together as part of sexual development. This seems to be common, but often denied. When I was a child, I found my parents' vibrator and immediately introduced my neighborhood friends to my "discovery." Now that I'm an adult, I've met new friends who say they too engaged in some sort of sexual play with their childhood friends, and I have come to see that it is far from unusual.

I'm looking for essays/articles that will inspire and/or instruct other porn writers. Success stories, how to break into certain markets, unique views on the genre, etc. Around 800 words is good, although I'm flexible.

I'd love articles on specific markets. There are so many sub-genres of porn and it's hard to know the subtleties of each. If you've got a specialty, from BDSM to Watersports to Leg Sex to Amputeeism, feel free to share your knowledge.

You can either suggest a topic (query) or send something whole. I'll get back to you within a week as to whether or not I'll be able to use it.
